Life of Wonder

A song about the ten thousand small miracles we stopped seeing, and the wonder of the body God gave us.

Michael CU. Out now, and track 13 on the album Daalu.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being.

Acts 17:28, King James Version

The miracles we stopped seeing

Your heart beat all night while you slept. Nobody was watching it. You did not set an alarm for it. It just kept going, about a hundred thousand times a day, every day of your life.

We pray for miracles. We wait for the big one. The healing, the breakthrough, the sign. And all the while we are standing in the middle of thousands of small ones that we stopped noticing years ago.

This song is about seeing them again.

Fearfully and wonderfully made

I trained in anatomy. Knowing how the body works has not made it less wonderful to me. It has made it more.

Think about a cut on your finger. Within minutes, your blood begins to seal it. Within days, new tissue fills the gap. A broken bone knits itself back together and slowly reshapes itself to carry weight again. You never gave the order. Something in you closed the wound.

You breathe somewhere around twenty thousand times a day, and almost none of those breaths are decisions. You see, hear, taste and move without thinking about how any of it works. Not one of these is small.

David had none of our science, but he saw the same thing. In Psalm 139:14 he wrote, I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvellous are Thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well.

What the Bible says about everyday miracles

Acts 17:28. In Him we live, and move, and have our being. Every movement you make happens inside His care.

Job 12:10. In His hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. The air that came in this morning came from somewhere.

Colossians 1:17. In Him all things hold together. The ground that holds your weight is being held too.

Jeremiah 30:17. I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds. The healing your body does on its own is not separate from God. It is one of the ways He keeps that promise.

What the song is about

Life of Wonder is a song of gratitude for ordinary things. Breath. A heartbeat. Water in your hands. The way the body heals and rises and recovers without being told how. It does not dismiss the big miracles. It just refuses to wait for them. I'll stop waiting for the big one. I'll take the ten thousand small ones.

Life of Wonder is the album's song of gratitude for ordinary things. Daalu by Michael CU is out on 3 November 2026.

A prayer of gratitude for everyday miracles

Father, thank You for the breath I did not ask for this morning. Thank You for a heart that beat all night and a body that heals without being told. Open my eyes to the ten thousand small miracles around me. Let me live with wonder and thanks. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Life of Wonder lyrics

IntroMiracles everywhere
Everywhere

Verse 1The air came in this morning
I didn't have to ask for it
My heart beat all night long
And nobody was watching it

The water in my hands
The ground that holds my weight
I stopped seeing it years ago
Now I can't stop seeing it

I see, I hear, I taste, I move
Not one of these is small
You made all of this
And gave me a body to enjoy it with

ChorusMiracles everywhere
Miracles in the air I breathe
Miracles in the ground I stand on
It's a life of wonder
I'm not waiting for a sign
I'm standing in the middle of one
Miracles everywhere

Verse 2And when things go south
And they do go south
Something in me closes the wound
And I never gave the order

I heal
I rise
I recover
I don't know how it works

I just know I'm still standing
And I know I didn't do that

ChorusMiracles everywhere
Miracles in the air I breathe
Miracles in the ground I stand on
It's a life of wonder
I'm not waiting for a sign
I'm standing in the middle of one
Miracles everywhere

BridgeThe miracle is not
That it's spectacular
The miracle is
That it happens
Without me
Without me

Every breath
Every morning
Every bone that knits back together
Every day I get up again
I didn't do that

So I'll stop waiting for the big one
I'll take the ten thousand small ones

ChorusMiracles everywhere
Miracles in the air I breathe
Miracles in the ground I stand on
It's a life of wonder
I'm not waiting for a sign
I'm standing in the middle of one
Miracles everywhere

OutroMiracles everywhere
Miracles everywhere
It's a life of wonder
