Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
Psalm 24:8, King James Version
What does Ebube Dike mean?
Ebube Dike means the glorious, mighty one. Ebube is glory, the kind of majesty that makes a room go quiet. Dike is the strong one, the warrior, the hero who goes ahead of his people into battle.
Put together, it is one of the great Igbo praise names for God. You will hear it shouted in churches from Onitsha to Owerri to Houston. It is not a polite name. It is the name you call when you have seen Him fight for you.
Three titles, one King
Igbo praise borrows the highest titles we give to people and hands them to God. This song uses three of them, and each one climbs higher than the last.
Dike, the warrior. In the village, Dike is the strong man everyone runs to when there is trouble. Scripture says the same of God. Psalm 24:8 calls Him the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Eze, the king. Eze is the title of a king. Eze m means my king. Not a king far away, but mine. Revelation 19:16 gives Him the title above every throne. King of kings and Lord of lords.
Igwe, the sky. Igwe means the sky, the heavens. In many Igbo communities it is also the title of the traditional ruler, because a king is meant to stand as high above the people as the sky. Igwe ndu m means the king of my life, the one who covers my life like the heavens cover the earth. Psalm 103:19 says the Lord has prepared His throne in the heavens.
So the song starts with the warrior, rises to the king, and ends at the sky. Then it comes back down to the warrior again, because the God who rules the heavens is the same God who fights for you.

What the song is about
Ebube Dike is a praise chant. There are no verses to learn. You call a name, the room answers, and the names keep rising. It is made for the part of the service when the band drops out and the drums take over, and the whole church just keeps calling Him what He is.
Ebube Dike is the album's high praise chant, built for drums and a full room. Daalu by Michael CU is out on 3 November 2026.
A prayer to the King of glory
Ebube Dike, glorious and mighty God, You are my warrior and my King. Fight the battles I cannot fight. Reign over every part of my life, the way the sky covers the earth. I crown You King of my life today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
