Just Say A Word

A prayer for a broken heart, built on the faith of a soldier who said, speak the word only.

Michael CU. Out now, and track 6 on the album Daalu.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Psalm 107:20, King James Version

Speak the word only

A Roman soldier once came to Jesus about his sick servant. Jesus offered to come to his house. The soldier said no. You do not need to come. Speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

That is Matthew 8:8, and Jesus said He had not found such great faith in all of Israel. The servant was healed that same hour. No visit. No touch. One word.

This song is built on that faith. Not asking God to fix everything in front of you. Just asking Him to say a word.

When your heart is broken by what people said

The first verse is for a particular kind of pain. You gave people all you had, and now you hear the things they are saying about you. You know where it lands. God knows too.

Psalm 147:3. He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Psalm 56:8. Thou tellest my wanderings. Put Thou my tears into Thy bottle. Are they not in Thy book? He counts the tears. The song says He counted every silence in the room.

Psalm 107:20. He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. This is the promise behind the chorus. His word heals.

You do not need their apology. You do not need them to understand. The bridge says it plainly. I'm not asking for their sorry. I'm just asking for one word from You to me.

One word, and it was done

The bridge walks through what happens when God speaks.

You spoke, and the light came. Genesis 1:3. God said, let there be light, and there was light.

You spoke, and the sea lay down. Mark 4:39. Peace, be still. You can read more of that story on the page for Baba.

You spoke, and the grave let go. John 11:43. Lazarus, come forth. And he did.

Isaiah 55:11 says His word shall not return unto Him void. If He can speak light out of darkness and life out of a tomb, He can speak over what they said about you. Speak till the noise gets quiet. Speak till I know whose I am.

What the song is about

Just Say A Word is a prayer from a broken heart. It names the hurt honestly, the tears, the words that landed, the nights nobody came, and it remembers that God stayed. It does not ask for revenge or explanation. It asks for the one thing that has always been enough. One word from God.

Just Say A Word is the album's song for healing. Daalu by Michael CU is out on 3 November 2026.

A prayer for a broken heart

Lord, You see my broken heart and You know what was said about me. I do not need their apology. I only need one word from You. Speak over this pain until the noise goes quiet. Speak until I know whose I am. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Just Say A Word lyrics

Verse 1Lord, you see my broken heart
Lord, you know the tears I cry
Lord, you hear the things they say about me
And you know what it does
You know where it lands
And I gave them all I had, Lord
I gave them all I had
Lord, you know the things they'll never know
And no matter how I try
Some things still fall apart
My hope is in you
My heart could be brand new

ChorusIf you speak a word
Oh, if you speak a word
My heart will be renewed
If you speak a word
Say one word
And these tears will never fall again
Just say a word
Say a word
Just say a word

Verse 2Lord, you sat with me at night
Lord, you stayed when no one came
Lord, you counted every silence in that room
And you saw what it cost me
To keep on standing
When I wanted to fall
And I'm still here, Lord
Though I don't know how
Lord, you know what carried me
Yeah, you know
It was you
My hope is in you
My heart is holding on

ChorusIf you speak a word
Oh, if you speak a word
My heart will be renewed
If you speak a word
Say one word
And these tears will never fall again
Just say a word
Say a word
Just say a word

BridgeYou spoke, and the light came
You spoke, and the sea lay down
You spoke, and the grave let go
One word, and it was done

Speak over this broken thing
Speak over what they said of me
Speak till the noise gets quiet
Speak till I know whose I am

I'm not asking for their sorry
I'm not asking them to see
I'm just asking for one word
One word from you to me

TagSay it, Lord
Say it, Lord
Just say a word

ChorusIf you speak a word
Oh, if you speak a word
My heart will be renewed
Just say a word
Say a word
Just say a word

OutroI know you hear
And I know you see
You feel the things in a broken heart
You mend them all
You make them whole
Just say a word
